The Canon UV-1 filter for 58mm lenses absorbs harmful ultraviolet rays without increase of exposure, thereby preventing haziness and foggy effects in distant landscapes. It also has a very subtle warming effect, which can be useful to counter the “cool” colors you sometimes get in bright sun or in shade. It can be left on the lens at all times for protection of the camera’s lens.

i wanted a glass lens, but for the price i should have known that this one is made of plastic. otherwise it seems to be a good product for the price.

I found this helpful in keeping the actual lenses clean and protected when I had to take my camera into the field for a series of photo shoots. I can’t vouch for the UV filter but protection of the lense was the reason for my purchase.

2 Stars Packaging didn’t survive shipping
The lens arrived already opened and the lens was loose. Amazingly, there was no damage to the lens, but filters shouldn’t arrive bouncing around.

3 Stars Expensive for plain glass filter
Don’t let the Canon name fool you. This is no fancy filter, just plain glass with the name to raise the price. Flare is awful as one would expect with no coatings. Don’t waste money on the name.

5 Stars Canon 77mm UV Haze Lens Filter
I needed a lens filter, where I live there are no stores that carry this filter. I saved money by ordering on line, I am 100% satisfied with my purchase. I would recomend this seller and this devise for those of you using a 100-400 Canon telephoto lens. This saves the main lens and is cheeper to replace if scratched. I feel this should last me many years. The Canon 77mm UV Haze Filter went on remarkably easy and improves my photo’s by filtering out unwanted glare, While protection my lens from dust, scratches or other incidents like cat hair.

2 Stars Marginal Quality
This is an OK mid-quality filter. However, it will most likely somewhat degrade the quality of your picture. If you have a bargin lens, this is probably a good choice for a protection filter. However, if you have chosen a good quality lens, then this filter will most likely disappoint you with the quality of the pictures you take. A better choice is Hoya’s professional line.

The high performance telephoto zoom lens is ideal for digital SLR cameras. This lens has two SLD glass elements in the front lens group and one in the rear lens group It is able to shoot with maximum magnification 1: 2 at the focal length of 300 mm. It’s the ideal lens for portraits, sports photography, nature photography, and other types of photography that frequently use the telephoto range.

User Ratings and Reviews

3 Stars Pick up a used MF Tamron Adaptall-2 SP 70-300 for half the price
I bought this lens for the auto focus, not for me but for my wife who wants auto-everything. My intention was to replace my Tamron lens with this one provided the performance was similar. First the good news: on a tripod using mirror lock-up at f8 and 300mm results can be quite good. Sharpness not as good as the Tamron lens but surprisingly better than some older primes I tested it against. The APO designation shows with a bright subject too - I tested it with pictures of the moon and while the Tamron produced the most detail if the exposure was pushed in post processing an obvious blue halo appeared around the moon in the Tamron shot where there was absolutely no such distortion at all on the Sigma lens (note that the halo was not visible on the Tamron pic at normal exposure though). However, you don’t buy this lens for tripod use, you buy it for casual use and the 300mm length is utterly useless for this in my opinion. I found it impossible to get a decent shot at moderate shutter speeds. The lens is very difficult to hold steady because it doesn’t have ENOUGH weight to counterbalance a hand underneath and is incredibly susceptible to vibration as a result. The image wide open in bright sunlight was so soft that I had to switch to MF because I was convinced the AF wasn’t working. In doing that you find another problem - there’s virtually no damping at all on the focus ring, making manual focus trying at best. Contrast all of this with the stately and criminally ignored Tamron lens which handles like a dream and is very sharp throughout its range. With its perfect balance and solid build I can shoot as low as 1/125 at 300mm and still get a good shot. The Tamron’s achilles heel is in very high contrast areas, but I can live with that thanks.

Buy the Sigma if you are on a very tight budget and have to have auto-exposure or auto focus, there’s really no competition then. Just don’t expect greatness (or much at all handheld at 300mm) and you won’t be disappointed. Btw I’m not a Sigma hater - I have an Sd14 which is a great *photographer’s* camera and the 15-30EX is a very good zoom lens, but the consumer end of the Sigma range is a bit hit and miss. I’d take an 18-50DC over the 70-300.

4 Stars Great lens for the price
After much flip-flopping over my desire for perfection and budget restraints, I thought I’d gamble $200 and try this lens. I was extremely pleased with my Sigma 105mm Macro lens, so I gave them another shot. While I found some unacceptable CA in 300mm in, of course, high contrasting borders, mostly I have found some pretty sharp and fine images. This lens is well worth the money, and if you can’t afford the $450 for ,say, a Nikkor 70-300, then take the plunge and you will not be disappointed in adding this lens to your arsenal.

3 Stars For handheld shooting, go with the Nikon 55-200 VR instead
I’m torn between 3 and 4 stars for this. It might not be fair, but while on it’s own it might rate 4 or even 4.5, given the alternatives–specifically the Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED IF AF-S DX for ~$20 more–I have to go with 3.

I’ve been shooting snapshots and kids sports on a D40 and D60 with the Nikon 55-200 VR for a few years, but was looking for something with just a bit more reach. I have the Nikon 70-300mm VR on my wish list, but at $400+ I can’t really justify it at the moment so I thought I’d give the Sigma a chance. It only took a few hours and some test shots side-by-side with the 55-200 VR to decide to pack up the Sigma and return it.

The Sigma is heavier, longer, and louder than the 55-200 and unlike the 55-200, the filter and front of the lens rotates and extends in and out while focusing. I might be willing to live with that if the Sigma let me get a bit closer. The thing is, shooting handheld and comparing the results I realized very quickly that 200mm with VR cropped down yields photos at least as sharp as 300mm without VR… and that’s just shooting against stationary objects.

I can imagine if you were shooting stills with a tripod or wanted the “macro” functionality for insects or other small subjects the Sigma might be the way to go, but for the average soccer mom/dad whose main use for a telephoto getting closer to the action, just grab the Nikon 55-200 VR.

Meanwhile, I plan to use the credit from returning the Sigma to get a head start on saving up for the Nikon 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G ED-IF AF-S VR.

5 Stars Sigma 70-300mm DG APO Macro Sony @lpha
This my first review on amazon and for a good reason, this lens is worth every penny, just look at the sample images left by others. The Build quality is superb, the glass not being top notch (you would pay hundreds more) is also very good. You want regret it. Bought it a few months and been using since than, no problems so far. Give it a shot.

5 Stars Awesome
If I had the money I’d still buy this lens

Why well it does everything a thousand dollars lens does and more:

Its affordable…

4 Stars Mounted on EF-S 18-200mm IS f/3.5-5.6 with 450D/XSi body
Paid $25 for it brand new. Red marker is useful for aligning hood for quick installation. Inside petals have a matte layer to prevent internal light reflections into the lens. Cheaper aftermarket hoods may not have this additional matte layer. You will not be able to use the stock lens cap with this hood installed so think about upgrading to an aftermarket center-pinched snap-on lens cap and most will come with a very useful tether string so you don’t misplace the lens cap. In addition, you will not be able to use the internal flash on the 450D/XSi with the hood attached to the 18-200mm lens because the upper petal will cast a shadow anything above 80mm zoom. Maybe the 40D/50D does not have this issue? An external 430EX or 580EX flash being mounted higher may eliminate this issue.

5 Stars Got this for my Canon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens
Works perfectly for the 18-200mm lens. However, you will not be able to put the lens cap on/off easily with the hood on UNLESS you also have a UV filter, which extends the lens out a little bit.

5 Stars Does the job!
I bought this for my husband. He requested it specifically because he said that it does a great job of blocking the sun from the lens. He misplaced the one he used to own at my home in another state. We moved here, and never found it when we were packing. He ordered another one of the very same kind because he like it so.

3 Stars Lens Hood versus Lens Cover
Not quite sure what to say about the lens hood…it does what it supposed to do however when you use it you can’t use the lens cover which was very disappointing to me. I assumed (shame on me) that I would be able to snap the lens cover on after shooting my photos but in order to do that I have to remove this lens hood so it now becomes a choice of what do I really want to use????

5 Stars too much!!!
Again, I got this for my Canon lens!! It’s great hood, but just over price for it.

Bring those far away subjects in close. The TC-DC58B converts the focal length of the body lens by a factor of approximately 1.5 (35 mm film equivalent at maximum telephoto: approximately 648 mm) when attached. The TCDC58B Telephoto Lens Converter screws into the front of the S2 IS’s existing lens to provide greater magnification (1.5x), for those times when you are shooting distant subjects that you do not want to disturb, such as children, pets, or wildlife.

4 Stars Excellent item, you get what you paid
The zoom increase when taking the pictures is significant, the lens mounts fairy well with almost no loose movement, if your looking of a teleconverter this should be it.

4 Stars Use the hood !!
For those complaining about not being able to use the tele-converter with a filter, note that the hood included with the adapter is threaded for 58mm filters. The hood does not stay secure over the lens, but if you carry a small roll of tape, you can use a couple pieces to secure it.

I have only used this in practice, but came out with some very good, clear results. Like others, I know this is a zoom lens, but wish you could be able to back off the zoom a bit with out getting the tunnel effect. I think it will work out well, though. As to price, it’s fair, especially as DSLR lenses run in the thousands, not mere $200.00 and less. Oh, yes, I purchsed this lens from Canon, and the

Amazon price is considerably less.

5 Stars Love the zoom
We got this with the Canon LAH-DC20 adapter and hood.

Have to have the adpater.

We were at the beach and with just the camera zoom of 12x we could not see details on the pier that was way down the beach or much of a boat way out on the horizon. Add the zoom and we could see the people fishing off the pier and a person empting a bucket on the boat.

You have to take it off for close things or the lens gives you a nice circle around your subject, but hey it is a zoom lens for stuff you can not see with the camera’s built in lens.

Sometimes at full zoom there is a little distortion at the edges of the picture. This has not been much of a problem for us.

5 Stars TeleConverter
This takes amazing pictures.

I read one review that said that there is a circle when not zoomed in. This is true, however, this lens is made for reaching out far. So if you put it on and dont want to use the zoom, you are a pinhead. Here is an example of the circle http://outdoors.webshots.com/photo/2445322610046342862IUtNrR?vhost=outdoors

You can see how much it reaches out.

One warning. You have to get the adapter for this. They run about 24 bucks. I got two, one for my tele and one for wide, so they are easy to switch out
Like anything you buy you get what you pay for,I was thinking about buying another brand and I am glad I didn’t,this lens works well and I can tell that the 1.5 does make a difference.the lens is clear and is multicoated,it does what I want it to,as with any other saying buy quality its what you get.It does have a barrel effect when in close mode but the lens is not made for that,in telephoto the barreling disappears, but it makes a neat effect on close images, almost like a round frame.it threaded on the adapter with no problem, its a keeper. Also included is a nice drawstring pouch and caps for both lens ends.

User Ratings and Reviews

2 Stars There are better lenses out there - avoid this one
This lens looks on the surface to be a great all-purpose lens, and at first the pictures looked a step up from my Canon PowerShot A720IS 8MP Digital Camera with 6x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom. It has image stabilization, and a good range, I thought it would be a good general purpose lens. I quickly became disillusioned with the results, many pictures where out of focus, so I thought I would compare it against my other lenses. What I discovered surprised me. I took the cost effective 50mm lens, the 100mm macro lens, the 70-300mm IS lens, the kit 18-55mm and the 28-105mm and took the same pictures at focal lengths of 50mm and 100mm of a batik (where possible). I made sure I had adequate lighting to avoid camera shake (1300 watts total, plus all pictures were above 1/50th second), which I thought might be the culprit, and took a series of photos with each lens at f4.5. The worst lenses by far were the 28-105 and the 18-55 which gave about the same results. Whilst the 100mm macro lens (from the same distance) and the 70-300mm IS, and often the 50mm showed the grain of the canvas on which the art was imprinted, the 28-105mm and the 18-55 were not sharp at all, and sometimes downright blurry. This was at a distance of about 2 meters (12 feet). There were 5 test pictures, in every single one, the 100mm macro lens gave the best result (just ahead of the surprisingly good 70-300IS). The 28-105 was very disappointing. I think the sample was wide enough to eliminate operator error. I wondered if my camera was failing to auto-focus properly, but the results with the 100mm are perfect 9 times out of 10, often even when working at macro ranges with autofocus on, and bad 10/10 with the 28-105mm.

In short: Avoid this lens if you want crisp pictures. Get instead the Canon - Lens - 50 mm - f/1.8 II - Canon EF (though some say the f1.4 is better, I might agree, but it’s over 4 times the price, and this is definitely a step up from the 28-105), and also the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens for Canon SLR Cameras. It won’t set you back that much more, and you’ll get much better pictures and be able to do macro work! You might argue that the 28mm end would be missing, but the kit lens takes as good photos as this lens, so you’re not missing much except perhaps better manual focus, but I would imagine few are using manual focus with this lens.

Other problems you may find are that the zoom barrel will extend of it’s own accord if you point the camera downward. I also found that I had to take two or three pictures at a time to get one that was anywhere near in focus and correctly exposed. Lens certainly won’t just ’snap’ the moment first time, I dread to think what it would be like on action shots.

3 Stars good walk around lens for a budget
This lens takes nice pictures. The fact that the lens adjust the zoom if its on an angle drives me nuts. The lens also slides open in my camera bag. I’m waiting for a 24-70 with IS to come out.

2 Stars Very Dull and Lifeless Images
I bought this lens in hopes that it would be an upgrade from what I had been using. I have had the lens for about 6 months and have yet to be impressed.

The images are very blurry and always need sharpening in photoshop or other program. Then you have to buy a lens hood seperate??? crazy!!!

If you can hold out and save a few hundred more for an L lens, then do so. Choosing to settle for this lens will only dissapoint you!

4 Stars Great Everyday Lens… for Pro’s or Enthusiasts
This lens is worth the money, or buying as a kit option. I would give it 5 stars, but there are couple of minor issues that bring it down.

Pros: USM. Quick focus. Great images. Pretty good range between wide field and moderate zoom at a great price point. My favorite single travel lens if I don’t feel like switching lens all day long or carrying multiples.

Cons: LENS CREEP. After a while it happens to a lot of these. There are ways to fix it if you are knowledgeable. Dust gets in pretty easy but not enough to degrade your images or even notice.

Overall, I think it is the best single carry lens on the market.

3 Stars Not bad for a kit lens!
This lens came with my 40D and is probably one of the better kit lenses. It features “IS” which is very useful for low light situations. One of the things I don’t like about this lens is the fact that it doesn’t have a fixed aperture. The aperture increases as you zoom out, which is a real bummer. Another weakness is the image quality. Images are not very sharp in my opinion and saturation/contrast is so-so. If your looking for a starter lens, then this is a lens you might consider. It’s light and pretty reasonably priced for a lens having “IS”!!

To meet user demands for a fast EF-S zoom lens, Canon has specially designed a new lens with a large aperture of f/2.8 for select Canon Digital SLR cameras. The large circular aperture produces a shallow depth-of-field, creating background blur that draws attention to the photographic subject. The lens construction includes UD and aspherical elements, which deliver impressive image quality throughout the entire zoom range. Image Stabilizer lens groups shift to compensate for camera movement so that the image appears steady on the image plane, ensuring clear, crisp images, even in dim light. With a Ring-type USM, inner focusing and new AF algorithms, this lens achieves autofocus quickly and quietly, and with full-time mechanical manual focusing, manually adjusting the focus is possible even in AF mode.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Absolutely great on a crop body
I got this lens with my EOS 50D instead of the kit lens. It is a fine lens and, if you have a crop (non-full frame) sensor like a 50D or 40D or Rebel XSi, it is the best choice in this focus range. It is a lot lighter than the 24-70 L lens and does the same job. I bought the Canon lens hood to go with it and also keep a B+W multicoated uv filter on the front.

If you are considering the 24-70 L and have a 50D body or similar then you should probably go with this lens, the 17-55/2.8. I have heard of photographers who use it and put the 24-70 L away, mainly becuase the 17-55 is lighter, has image stabilization, and takes excellent pictures.

Do get the lens hood also. The lens hood prevents flare (extraneous light) which can happen particularly with wide-angle lenses. A lens hood also provides physical protection for the lens.

A uv filter removes atomspheric haze and also protects the front of the lens. Don’t use a cheap filter- use the multicoated ones and name brands like B+W, Heliopan, etc. Some people don’t use a uv filter- it’s one of those eternal debates in photograhy.

4 Stars Great L lens optics, flairs badly, and build like a $300 lens
Pro:

AF, IQ, IS, Contrast, edge to edge sharpness, consistency, definitely in the L league.

Con:

For the price, the flair problem, the plastic used, the extended barrow, the stiff zoom ring, and the lack of the hood (like all Canon consumer lenses) are quite unacceptable. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone got dust problem or others got IS gone in a year. Just cross my fingers and hope mines IS survive longer. It gives this faint and unsettling zzzz sound from time to time, unlike the humble 18-55 IS kit lens. The IS on the latter happens to be dead quiet.

I agree with some that this is Canon’s signal for everybody to move to their pro full frame line over time - their EF-S lens can be great but won’t last. For the time beaing, I happen to love the light weight ef-s lines better. By the way, this Canon 17-55 is not heavy at all. Feels well balanced in hand with the 40D. Just that the build quality is about the same as the 28-135, only one notch above the humble kit lens, which is about 1/10 of the cost!

But the bottom line is, this lens got the very best IQ with extremely effective IS that no other can match. So I can’t blame Canon for getting away with murder here.

By the way, the IS on this lens is quite useful to me catching small child’s expression in low light. Their hands maybe moving, but often their expression changes much slower, enough for the IS to be helpful. Also, the new 18-55 IS kit lens got high marks on the web. So I did some rough comparison shots in low light at f5.6. The 17-55 wins hands down in sharpness and clarity all around.

Oh, this lens flair and ghost like hell. So do watch out for the unwanted artistic expressions in your shots.

Cheers

4 Stars Almost, but not L quality images
The best part of this lens is that it is stabilized and f/2.8. I can take had held shots at weddings regardless of the lighting.

The downside is that it is not nearly as sharp or high quality as a L lens. It sucks a lot of dust inside which doesn’t affect the pictures but could eventually be a mechanical issue. It is not sharp until around f/8 and does not handle contrast or vivid colors as well as L glass.

I would recommend buying this if you need to take hand held shots with a zoom, in low light. Otherwise buy a L or a couple primes.

5 Stars Quality Glass
My first reason for looking for a lens in this focal range was to shoot my daughter’s cheerleading in the school gym. On the Canon 1.6x FOVCF (Field of View Crop Factor) cameras which use the EF-S series lenses, the 17-55mm focal length range equates to a 27.2-88mm lens mounted on a full-frame DSLR or film 35mm camera. This turns out to be a great range for the tight shooting I do frequently. The optics of the lens are outstanding. It blows away the EF-S 18-55mm kit lens - as it should given the price difference. The auto focus is quick and quiet. The vignetting is very minimal, really only in the corners and the lens is sharp through the whole focal length, even in the corners. It is flare-prone in bright light and sunlight; see my comment regarding the EW-83J lens hood below.

I have seen some reviews mention dust as an issue with this lens, but I have not experienced any problems in that regard so far. I do, however, keep the lens in a LowePro 1 case when I am not using it, just the lens not with the lens hood. If you want to store it with the hood you need the LowePro 1W case (I do not have any ties to LowePro, I just know from experience that this lens will fit those cases, there are other lens cases out there). That leads to my one complaint I, like many, am disappointed that for @$1000 you do not get the EW-83J lens hood. You really do want to purchase one keep the stray light out that plagues DSLRs more than film SLRs. It does help with the flare, and should be included.

4 Stars Good, but not exceptional
This lens is good, but not what I had hoped for for $1000. The image stabilization is excellent, the focusing is good, and the sharpness is excellent at the center and good on the edges. There is a significant amount of vignetting and chromatic aberration. The build quality is downright cheap compared to an L lens. So it’s a fine lens, but you get a lot more bang-for-your-buck with the Sigma 17-70 at 1/3 the price.

The Precision Design ET-60 Lens Hood is primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.Dedicated lens hoods, such as the ET-60, are designed to match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for.>> Compatible with the following Canon lenses: Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 USM Lenses; Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 II Lenses; Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 II USM Lenses; Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III USM Lenses; Canon EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III Lenses; Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS Lens

4 Stars Good value
An inexpensive lens hood that provides good value. Fits my Canon EFS 55-250 Image Stablized lens just fine. I’m sure a Canon hood that costs much more is better quality but this one seems to do the job. Note that different Canon lens have slightly different bayonet mounts. This one has three “lugs” on the mount so if your lens has only two, it won’t fit as reported by users with other Canon telephoto lenses. The hood construction feels like fairly cheap but cosmetically acceptable plastic. Time will tell if it holds up (i.e doesn’t crack/break).

5 Stars Get one and use it!
It’s just a basic tube to keep off axis light out of your lens. It’s a simple job, and this hood does it as well as the Canon one. Heck, a left over piece of ABS pipe could do it as well as the Canon one. It’ll also protect your delicate lens from bumps. I know mine has.

4 Stars Generic lens hood for Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS zoom
The low price of this plastic lens hood should tell you that it isn’t going to be as exciting as a Canon branded accessory. But it mounts well on the 55-250mm lens, and for $12.95, it gets the job done, and is light weight. It is also made to mount in reverse, so you can keep it on the lens when not in use, or when you store it.

Another reviewer said it didn’t fit the Canon EF-S 55-250 IS lens, but I’ve mounted it on my lens, and it fits fine.

5 Stars Works Great!!
Well worth the money…especially with someone who is on a tight budget as myself but still loves photography.

5 Stars It DOES fit the EF-S55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS lens
Another reviewer claims it does not fit this lens but I received it today and it fits great. It turns clockwise (when facing the lens) for a nice snug fit - even with a filter on the lens. I suggest the other reviewer try again.

I have bought a few items from this company and they are very responsive and goods arrive quickly - even across country to California.

5 Stars Super cool amazing perfect camera
I LOVE THIS CAMERA!!!!!! This has been one of the best presents I have ever bought myself. I have used this camera, over and over and over again, and it has brought me so much joy! The pictures it takes are very amazing, and I am having so much fun with this thing. It has definitely brought out the inner photographer in me and my poor family have become the victims of my shutterbug craze. Absolutely no problems whatsoever with this camera!

5 Stars One of the best Canon has ever made…
There are over 600 reviews on this camera, and over 90% of them are 4-5 stars. So, why would I add my 2 cents? Because this model is simply one of the best Canon has ever made.

I’ll give you three simple reasons why:

1. Value–for the price, this camera is awesome. You can take professional quality photos that look like they were shot with a $4,000 camera. Purchasing this camera leaves room in your wallet for great accessories (especially lenses), books, and maybe even lessons, that will really make your pics stand out. Spend money on accessories and knowledge, not the camera body!

2. Image Quality–I have taken pictures that people thought were done by a professional. Just the other day Walgreens wanted me to produce a copyright release for a picture THAT I TOOK MYSELF. They thought it was professional. I’ve tested this camera against the 40D and 5D models. Not much difference in image quality, period.

3. Ease of Use–It was not hard to learn how to use the advanced features of this camera. I was snapping decent photos right out of the box. Reading the manual got me photos that were twice as good. Then I bought a couple of books here on Amazon related to the Rebel and digital photography in general, and now people are willing to PAY for pictures that I have taken.

Please don’t think I’m writing this review just to brag about myself. My point is this: 10 months ago I couldn’t take a decent picture to save my life. Now, photography is a serious hobby that I truly love. I owe this enjoyment to the low price and great quality of the Rebel Xti.

P.S.

For other newbies out there, I’ll list three books that will take you a very high level for an amateur. I recommend reading them in this order. “Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi/400D Guide to Digital SLR Photography by David D. Busch,” “Understanding Exposure: How to Shoot Great Photographs with a Film or Digital Camera (Updated Edition) by Bryan Peterson,” and “The Digital Photography Book by Scott Kelby.”

5 Stars My goodness you won’t be disappointed
Here’s the deal… Invest in a nice lens, and learn to color balance this camera (buy the DVD that teaches you how to use it).. The things this camera can do is just amazing… and for this price it’s a no brainer…. I have had the camera for over 2 years and have never been so happy with a purchase in my life…. LEARN to color balance it with a white card and learn to use the “M” mode and you will never need another camera… They say it’s an amatuer camera, but we use it professionally for product shots… It’s darn good and that’s all there is too it… You could get the Xsi too but for the price this is more of a value… God bless you and God bless America and all of our allies… In GOD we trust!!

5 Stars Great Camera
I have been having a blast with this camera. I was tired of the point and click cameras and decided to take a step up with this camera. What a world of difference. Now i actually get the picture i see. The pictures come out clear and beautiful. The camera fires off pictures like a machine gun. Couldn’t be happier with this purchase.

5 Stars Great for travel
I love this camera!!! I noticed many people saying the same in all the comments I read, and after purchasing the camera and using it for the past 3 months I absolutely agree with them all. I LOVE this camera! Its easy to operate (especially for a beginner as myself) and light enough for people transitioning from a point-&-shoot camera. The sensor cleaning is very helpful (particularly when one travels to areas where there are a lot of dirt roads). The software that comes along with the camera kit is also easy to use and a great organizational tool.

Now I need to look for a new lens, the one that comes with the kit does not have a far enough range for me, and you will definitely need more if you travel much.

Cameta Camera was super fast in shipping the camera so a big thumbs up for them.
